    Hello Shaunte Armstrong

As I understand it, you are unable to use certain print-related options in Excel, and you've already tried restarting the Print Spooler service, but the issue remains.

Because there are a few details that need to be clarified to ensure I am addressing your issue correctly, may I ask a few questions?

1/ When you mention "print layout", are you referring to:

    • "File" > "Print" settings
    • or the "Page Layout" tab on the ribbon,
    • or the "Page Layout" view under the "View" tab?

    User's image

2/ What exactly happens when you try to use those options?

    • Are they grayed out (disabled)?
    • Or are they clickable but nothing happens?

3/ Are you able to print from other applications such as Word, Notepad, or your web browser?

3/ Does the issue occur with:

    • one specific workbook, or all Excel files?

4/ Is a printer currently selected and visible under File > Print in Excel?

    User's image

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Since restarting Print Spooler did not fix it, isolate whether this is an Excel-specific issue or a broader Windows printing issue:

    1. Try printing from another app or file
      • Open another app such as Notepad or Paint and try printing.
      • Also try printing a different file from Excel.
      • If printing works in other apps, the issue is likely specific to Excel or Office rather than the spooler.
    2. Verify the correct printer is selected in Excel
      • In Excel, go to File > Print.
      • Make sure the intended printer is selected.
      • Check that the printer status shows Ready.
    3. Check Excel print settings
      • In File > Print, confirm the page size, orientation, and layout are correct.
      • Make sure Print to PDF or Print to file is not selected.
      • Check whether Excel is set to print the correct pages or sheet range.
    4. Print a Windows test page
      • On Windows 11: Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > select the printer > Printer properties > General > Print Test Page.
      • On Windows 10: Start > Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners > select the printer > Manage > Printer properties > General > Print Test Page.
      • If the test page fails, troubleshoot the printer or driver first.
    5. Repair Microsoft 365 / Office
      • Windows 11: Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft 365 > Advanced options > Quick Repair.
      • If the issue continues, run Online Repair.
      • Windows 10: Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Office > Modify > Quick Repair.
      • If needed, run Online Repair.
    6. Update or reinstall the printer driver
      • Open Device Manager.
      • Expand Printers or Print queues.
      • Update the printer driver.
      • If no update is available, uninstall the device and restart the PC so Windows can reinstall the driver automatically.
      • Outdated or conflicting drivers are a common cause of spooler and printing problems.
    7. Restart the app and PC
      • Close Excel completely.
      • Restart the PC.
      • Open Excel again and test printing.

If Excel still cannot use Print Layout or print options after these steps, but other apps print normally, the supported next step is Office repair, because the documented causes include app settings and corrupted Office files.
