0xc0000005 is an access violation error. It commonly points to memory corruption, low-memory conditions, a faulty or outdated driver, or an app problem.
Try these steps in order:
- Restart Windows and close other apps This can clear a temporary low-memory condition.
- Repair or reinstall the affected app Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps or use Control Panel > Programs and Features, then repair or reinstall the game launcher or related app.
- Remove any recently added app or driver If the error started after installing something new, uninstall that recent app or driver from Apps and Features or Programs and Features, then test again.
- Install all Windows and driver updates
Go to Start > Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options.
- Turn Receive updates for other Microsoft products to On.
- Open Optional updates and install all available optional updates.
- Return to Windows Update and select Check for updates.
- Install all available updates, then restart. If Windows Update does not provide newer drivers, check the PC or hardware manufacturer site for updated drivers.
- Run Windows Memory Diagnostic
- Save work and close apps.
- Right-click Start > Run.
- Type
mdschedand select OK. - Select Restart now and check for problems (recommended).
- If needed, press F1 during the test and switch from Standard to Extended, then press F10. After Windows restarts and signs in, review the result notification.
- Check the memory test result in Event Viewer Go to Event Viewer (Local) > Application and Services Logs > Microsoft > Windows > MemoryDoagnostics-Results > Debug. Event ID 2001 means no memory errors were detected.
If the app still fails after reinstalling it, updating drivers, and passing memory diagnostics, the problem is likely within the app itself and an updated version of the app is needed.
