Having the same issue trying to buy my kid Minecraft. She requested it through her account, and I am "Allowing" it via the family portal.

Background:

I have multiple payment options on file, and a subscription for 365 that went through in July of 2026

Things I have tried:

  • Removing the card and re-adding it. Same issue
  • Trying paypal. Same issue
  • Going through the full checklist of possible issues:
    • Payment options are up to date and billing address is matching
    • No overdue subscriptions
    • Not temporarily suspended
    • Xbox account is not suspended.
  • Trying to purchase a digital gift card, and using that as a payment - SAME ISSUE WHEN PURCHASING FROM THE STORE.

I have talked to the AI 3-4 times now, with the same outcome. Same. Issue:

    Hi max r,

Thank you for sharing the detailed list of checks you have already completed. Since the same payment-processing error occurs with multiple payment methods and even when trying to purchase a digital gift card, this does not appear to be limited to the Minecraft purchase request or a single card.

At this point, it would be best to contact Microsoft Support so the billing team can review the transaction and account-specific purchase status. This is a user-to-user support forum, so contributors cannot access billing records or investigate payment restrictions from here.

When contacting Support, provide the error code, the date and time shown with the error, and explain that the issue occurs both through the family approval process and Microsoft Store. Please do not share card numbers or other financial information in the public forum.

If the Support Assistant appears, enter “I need to speak with a live support agent”, then follow the available contact options.

I hope Support can help identify what is preventing the transactions from being processed. I know this isn't the news you were hoping for, but I wanted to make sure you got the most accurate information about your situation. Thank you so much for your understanding.
