Please tell in detail how exactly did you purchase Windows license. Was it preinstalled to your PC or bought separately?
Windows 11 Home Activation Error Code: 0xC004F211
Changed a desktop computer recently - I signed out of everything on my old pc, removed that device from my Microsoft account before setting up and signing into my Microsoft account on my new pc.
Windows isn't activated - Activate Now
Clicking on 'Activate Now' brings me to this screen where it says 'Windows reported that the hardware of your device has changed. Error Code: 0xC004F211'
When i click on 'Troubleshoot' and a small screen pops out, it just says troubleshooting completed and unable to activate windows.
When i click on 'Contact Support To Get Help', this error code pops out.

2026-10-09T18:42:17.4766667+00:00 Please tell in detail what exactly license (not digital license!) do you have and its exact name. Did you try to re-enter your product key?
Note, preinstalled Windows cannot be transferred to another hardware. And several years ago Microsoft blocked Windows 11 activation using Windows 7/8 product keys.

2026-10-09T18:03:45.44+00:00 Error 0xC004F211 means Windows detected a significant hardware change. Replacing the motherboard or moving to a new desktop can make Windows treat it as a different device, so the previous activation may no longer match.
For Windows 11 Home, the supported steps are:
- Open Start > Settings > System > Activation.
- Select Troubleshoot.
- If the troubleshooter offers reactivate after a hardware change, use that path.
- If there is a 25-character product key that was previously used on that device, select Change product key and enter it.
Important points for this scenario:
- A digital license is tied to the device hardware.
- Removing the old device from the Microsoft account can prevent it from appearing in the reactivation flow.
- If Windows originally came preinstalled on the old device and the motherboard was replaced or the license is being used on a different PC, a new license may be required.
- If the current installation edition does not match the license edition, activation can also fail. The installed edition must match the licensed edition.
About the AADSTS500200 message: that indicates the support app flow being opened expects an organizational account, while the account used is a personal Microsoft account. That message does not change the activation guidance above.
If the troubleshooter does not find a device to reactivate and there is no valid transferable product key available, the remaining supported path is to buy a new Windows license from Settings > System > Activation > Go to Microsoft Store.
