Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

To use Facial Recognition, a standard RGB camera is not sufficient. Windows requires a camera with dedicated Infrared (IR).

Do you have an external camera, or do you use one integrated into your PC?

If it's an external camera, what is the manufacturer and model of the camera?

If it's an internal camera, what is the manufacturer and model of your computer?

If you prefer, you can share a screenshot of your system information.

  • Press "Windows + R", type msinfo32 and press Enter.

Maximize the window and use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool.

Looking forward to your reply.

    Thanks for the screenshot.

According to HP's specifications, your model (HP ProBook 450 G7) is equipped with a standard 720p HD camera.

According to what I found online, on this series, the IR (Infrared) camera required for Windows Hello Face is an optional hardware feature at purchase. Since your system only has the standard RGB camera, it lacks the necessary infrared sensors, which is why Windows displays the message "We couldn't find a camera compatible with Windows Hello Face".

    These are your options:

    • You can continue using your PIN or Password to sign in to Windows.
    • If you specifically prefer facial recognition, you would need to connect an external USB camera with Windows Hello IR support.

While I don't have specific recommendations for a camera, you can likely find one through an online search. Be sure to confirm with the camera manufacturer that the device includes the necessary IR functionality to work with Windows Hello before making a purchase.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

    Welcome Emmanuel Gilles Quere,

Since this is a public forum, we will hide your personal identifiable information, and I have sent that image of yours containing your personal identifiable information in a private message so we can work together to resolve the issue.

Thanks for the update. Since your PIN is already working and the regular camera works, let's check whether Windows is detecting the camera components required for Windows Hello Face.

1, Check whether Windows detects the required camera

    • Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager
    • Expand Cameras and also check Biometric devices if that category is available.
    • Please tell me the exact names of all devices listed under those sections, especially if you see anything mentioning IR, Infrared, or Windows Hello

2, Check for optional camera/biometric driver updates

    • Open Settings >Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates
    • Check Driver updates
    • If a camera or biometric-related driver is available, install it and restart the computer.
    • After restarting, check Settings >Accounts >Sign-in options >Facial recognition (Windows Hello) again.

    Looking forward to your update.
