Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
Yes. A support agent can be contacted.
For a new PC that included Office, if Word and Excel-related apps seem missing after an update, the supported path is:
- Open an Office app such as Word or Excel.
- If prompted, complete Activate Office first.
- In the app, go to File > Account.
- Under Product Information, select Update Options > Update Now.
- Let Office finish checking for and installing updates.
- After the update completes, check the Start menu again for the missing Office apps and features.
Important detail: if an Office app is left open for more than five days without installing an available update, it can show as Unlicensed Product and most features become unavailable until Update Now is installed.
If help from a person is needed, use the Contact Us option on the Microsoft support page for Microsoft 365 for home subscriptions or one-time Office purchases. There is also an option to talk to a customer support agent from the Microsoft account help page.
