Setting up future meetings with participants using Teams calendar or Outlook integration
If the Teams Meeting option is missing from the Outlook ribbon, the most common cause is that the Teams Meeting add-in was disabled.
Try this in Outlook Desktop:
- Go to File > Manage COM Add-ins.
- Expand Options for Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office.
- Select Do not monitor this add-in for the next 30 days.
- If that option is not available, select Always enable this add-in.
- Select Apply and Close.
If the button is still missing, re-enable it from Disabled Items:
- In Outlook, go to File > Options > Add-ins.
- In Manage, select Disabled items, then select Go.
- If Teams appears in the list, select it and choose Enable.
- Restart Outlook and check the ribbon again.
If the Teams option still does not appear, a workaround is to create the meeting directly in Teams:
- Open Teams.
- Select Calendar.
- Select New or choose a timeslot.
- Enter the meeting details.
- Make sure the Teams meeting toggle is turned on.
- Select Save.
A Teams meeting link will be created and attendees can use that link to join.
For an immediate alternative, an instant meeting can also be started in Teams:
- Go to Calendar in Teams.
- Select Meet now.
- Select Get a link to share or Start meeting.
Note: editing the registry to prevent Outlook from disabling the add-in is possible, but it is a higher-risk step and should be done carefully because incorrect registry changes can affect Outlook behavior.
