Previously activated $200 Microsoft for Startups credits now showing account ineligible

I registered for Microsoft for Startups and activated $200 in Azure credits. The portal previously showed an expiry date of November 19, 2026, and my Azure usage during September was covered by these credits.

The Microsoft for Startups page now displays: “This account can't be used for Microsoft for Startups credits. Sign in with an eligible Microsoft account to access this offer.”

I am signing in with the same account used during registration and activation. I have also tried an incognito window, but the message remains.

Although my email uses my company's custom domain, I have confirmed that it is registered as a personal Microsoft account (MSA): I can successfully sign in to the personal account dashboard at account.microsoft.com.

My Azure subscription is still accessible. Cost Analysis shows October usage, but I have not yet confirmed the remaining credit balance.

Could someone clarify:

Why a previously activated account would now show this eligibility message?

Whether this message affects existing credits or only eligibility for a new offer?

Which support channel can investigate my account's credit entitlement and confirm whether current usage is covered?

I have included screenshots of the eligibility message and the personal Microsoft account dashboard.Screenshot 2026-10-08 at 8.40.53 PM

The supported facts point to this as an account eligibility or entitlement issue in the Microsoft for Startups portal, not proof that the Azure subscription itself is gone.

    • Microsoft for Startups benefits must be activated with the same personal Microsoft account (MSA) used during registration.
    • Work or school accounts are not supported for Microsoft for Startups sign-up, but a custom-domain email can still be valid if it is registered as a personal Microsoft account.
    • Program Support handles Azure credit activation, benefit redemption, billing profile issues, entitlement corrections, and portal access problems.

    For the specific questions:

    1. Why a previously activated account would now show this message
The available guidance does not document a specific reason for an account changing from previously activated to later showing “This account can't be used for Microsoft for Startups credits.” What is documented is that eligibility and activation are tied to the account used for registration, and that entitlement corrections and portal access problems are handled by Program Support.
    2. Whether this affects existing credits or only new eligibility
The available guidance does not explicitly state whether that banner removes already-activated credits or only blocks access to additional startup offers. Since the Azure subscription is still accessible, the supported next step is to verify the billing view directly in Azure:
      • In the Azure portal, go to Cost Management + Billing → Billing profiles to view invoices and payment methods for the profile.
      • For Azure credit confirmation, the activation FAQ says to check Cost Management → Billing → Payment methods.
    3. Which support channel can investigate entitlement and coverage
Use Microsoft for Startups Program Support. Support requests must be submitted through the Azure Portal by selecting Get Program Support under the Your Microsoft Team tile. Program Support is the documented channel for:
      • Azure credit activation
      • benefit redemption
      • billing profile issues
      • entitlement corrections
      • portal access problems

Given the current state—same MSA, incognito already tried, subscription still accessible—the most direct path is:

    1. In Azure portal, check Cost Management + Billing → Billing profiles.
    2. Check Cost Management → Billing → Payment methods to confirm whether the startup credit/sponsorship is still present.
    3. In the Microsoft for Startups experience in Azure Portal, submit a Program Support request using Get Program Support under Your Microsoft Team and ask them to verify the account’s startup credit entitlement and whether current usage is still covered.
