If the device is still receiving Insider builds, the device must be unenrolled, not just the account.
- Open Settings > Windows Update > Windows Insider Program > Stop Insider Preview Builds.
- If the device is in Beta, Experimental, or Release Preview, turn on the option to stop getting preview builds. That returns the device to a retail build.
- If the device is in Experimental (Future Platforms), use a clean installation of Windows 11 instead.
- If the device is managed by work or school and the administrator enrolled it, Insider builds continue until the organization leaves the program or changes the settings.
If the device still does not leave the program, check these items:
- In Settings > Windows Update > Windows Insider Program, confirm the device is actually enrolled and note the current channel and account tied to Windows Insider.
- In Settings > System > About, check the current OS build number.
- In Settings > Windows Update, select Check for updates.
- If the issue is caused by the current build, check recent flight blog posts for known issues.
- If the device is stuck or unusable, back up important files first, then use one of these recovery options:
- Settings > System > Recovery > Reset this PC to reinstall Windows on the same build.
- Settings > System > Recovery > Go back to the previous version of Windows 11 if the update was installed within the last 10 days.
- Do a clean installation of Windows or another Insider Preview build using an ISO for a fresh start.
