    Hi @Amit Moorthy R ,

Thank you for providing the screenshot. I understand that you encountered warnings during the Visual Studio installation, while your existing Visual Studio 2022 installation continues to work as expected.

The message**“Couldn't process Microsoft.VisualStudio.Product.Professional”** means that Visual Studio Installer could not correctly process the Professional product entry. This is commonly associated with inconsistent installer metadata or an incomplete installation, but the popup does not contain enough detail to confirm the root cause. The message does not necessarily indicate a licensing problem

    Please try the following steps:

    1. Restart Windows.
    2. Disable firewall/proxy and anti-virus software during installation, but if this is an enterprise-managed device, contact your IT, network, or security administrator before changing any firewall, proxy, antivirus, or endpoint security settings. The administrator should also verify that the required Visual Studio download endpoints are allowed through the organization’s security systems.
    3. If permitted by your organization, temporarily disable or bypass the firewall, proxy, antivirus, or endpoint security software.
    4. Right-click Visual Studio Installer and select Run as administrator.
    5. Install any available Visual Studio Installer update, and then retry the installation.
    6. Re-enable all security protections immediately after the installation attempt, whether the installation succeeds or fails.
    7. If the issue continues, select More > Repair for the affected installation, if the Repair option is available.
    8. After the repair, reopen Visual Studio Installer and confirm whether the warning and product-processing error are gone.

If Repair is unavailable or unsuccessful:

Close Visual Studio Installer and delete:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\Installer

Next, download the appropriate Visual Studio Professional bootstrapper from the official Visual Studio download source and run the bootstrapper as administrator.

Deleting this folder before running the bootstrapper is important because it removes the existing Installer files and local installation metadata that might be damaged or inconsistent. The fresh bootstrapper then recreates the Installer folder with clean files. This action is intended to reset Visual Studio Installer, not to uninstall the working Visual Studio 2022 instance.

After the Installer is recreated, check whether both Visual Studio installations are detected correctly and try the installation or update again.

    If the issue persists:

    • In Visual Studio Installer, select View problems for the affected installation and copy the complete error details.
    • Select View Logs and preserve the setup logs. You may also include the setup log files beginning with dd_ from the %TEMP% folder.
      • General setup log: dd_setup_<timestamp>.log
      • Professional product setup log: dd_setup_<timestamp>_*_Microsoft.VisualStudio.Product.Professional.log
      • Setup error log: dd_setup_<timestamp>_errors.log
    • Whether the installation uses an online bootstrapper, offline layout, proxy, VPN, or enterprise deployment policy

If you found my response helpful or informative, I would greatly appreciate it if you could follow this guide for your confirmation. Thank you.

    Hi @Amit Moorthy R

Thanks for the screenshot, it helps a lot. VS 2026 actually got installed next to 2022, but it finished with warnings, so some of its parts didn't set up properly. That's what the "Couldn't process" message is about. Having 2022 on the same PC is fine, both versions are meant to sit side by side.

    On her PC:

    1. In the Visual Studio Installer, select View problems under the 2026 entry and note which component failed.
    2. On that same 2026 entry, select More > Repair and let it run. A repair often fixes setup warnings like this.
    3. If the error comes back, close the installer, delete only the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\Installer, then run VisualStudioSetup.exe again. The installer rebuilds itself, and her VS 2022 install and projects stay as they are.
    4. If it still fails, collect logs with the tool from https://aka.ms/vscollect (run Collect.exe from an elevated Command Prompt under her account). It saves vslogs.zip in her %TEMP% folder.

Which component shows up under View problems?

If this resolved your issue, please consider accepting it as the answer. If the repair doesn't clear it, let me know and I'll be happy to keep helping.
