How does Microsoft Bookings assign appointments?

We recently switched to using Microsoft Bookings for managing clients booking to our team members. We have three team members on our roster and are wondering how Bookings assigned appointments if all three members are equally free and available to take the appointment.

  • Does it go down the list of team members?
  • Does it pick based on who last was assigned an appointment?
  • Or is it completely random?

This is a concern our sales team has about being sure they are being fairly assigned appointments.

    Hi Nicholas,

Regarding your concern, if you disable the staff selection setting, when all three team members are available, Microsoft Bookings randomly assigns the appointment to one of them. It does not assign appointments based on list order or who received the previous appointment.

Also, random assignment does not guarantee an equal number of appointments for each person, so you may need to monitor the distribution and manually rebalance appointments if necessary.
