Microsoft circular hell to cancel a trial

I downloaded Teams to attend a meeting, and was led through multiple screens to sign up for a trial. The meeting is over and I want to cancel any and all trials, subscriptions, of Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, anything Microsoft.

Use this path first for any personal Microsoft subscription or trial:

    1. Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services or https://account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365.
    2. Sign in with the same Microsoft account that was used when the trial or subscription was started.
    3. For each Microsoft subscription shown:
      • Select Manage or Cancel subscription.
      • If it says Upgrade or Cancel, select that, then choose Cancel.
      • Follow the prompts to confirm cancellation.
    4. If the page shows Turn on recurring billing instead of Cancel, the subscription is already set to expire and no further charges will be made.
    5. If the page shows Expires on and Paid with: None, the trial will simply end on that date and no cancellation is needed.

If cancellation is not available, check these common causes:

    1. Wrong account signed in: make sure the sign-in uses the Microsoft personal account that made the purchase or started the trial.
    2. Bought through Apple App Store or Google Play: cancellation and refunds must be handled through Apple or Google support.
    3. Bought through a third-party retailer: cancellation must be handled with that seller directly.
    4. Overdue payment: if money is owed, cancellation is blocked until the overdue amount is paid.

If this was created under a work or school account instead of a personal Microsoft account, cancellation may require the organization’s IT admin. For self-service trials in an organization, an admin can go to Microsoft 365 admin center > Billing > Your products, select the self-service subscription, then Take control of this subscription and Cancel subscription.
