A video editing tool developed by Microsoft, designed to make video creation easy and accessible for everyone.
Try these steps in order:
- Update the Clipchamp Windows app Open Microsoft Store and select Check for Updates. Install any available Clipchamp update, then reopen the app.
- Try the Clipchamp desktop app if the browser path is failing On Windows 11, launch Clipchamp from the taskbar search or All Apps. On Windows 10 and 11, Clipchamp can also be installed from the Microsoft Store. If the app has not been opened for some time, update it to the latest version before starting it.
- Free up memory and check disk space Close other browser tabs and applications. Make sure the free space on the internal drive is greater than the size of the video files used in the project. Low RAM or low disk space can prevent Clipchamp from loading correctly.
- Disable browser extensions if Clipchamp is opening through a browser-based flow Content blockers, privacy extensions, ad blockers, and translation extensions can interfere with Clipchamp loading. Disable one suspected extension at a time, reload Clipchamp, and test again. On a managed device, check with IT before changing extension controls.
- Clear cached images/files and restart the browser
If Clipchamp is being launched in Edge or Chrome during setup:
- Clear browser cache.
- Select All time and Cached images and files.
- Restart the browser by entering
chrome://restartoredge://restartin the address bar. - Reopen Clipchamp.
- Check hardware requirements
Clipchamp works best with:
- At least 8 GB RAM; 16 GB or more is better
- A 64-bit computer, 64-bit OS, and 64-bit Edge or Chrome
- A recent graphics card
- Free disk space greater than the size of the project media
- If a hardware unsupported message appears in Chrome
Chrome may block some GPU drivers needed for WebGL. Warning: enabling Chrome’s GPU blocklist override can cause browser instability or crashes.
- Open
chrome://flags/#ignore-gpu-blocklist - Set Override software rendering list to Enabled
- Relaunch Chrome
- If Chrome becomes unstable, disable the flag again
- Open
- If using Brave
If Brave shows an unsupported hardware or outdated Chrome message:
- Click the lion icon next to the address bar
- Temporarily allow fingerprinting for Clipchamp
