Issues running ClipChamp

Been running Clipchamp for quite some time now. My recent attempt had it running through a "lets set up tools needed" - it runs it but then at the end says "Webview2Runtime already installed" and then a Try Again or Help screen comes up.I tried it several times - rebooting the computer etc. I also reinstalled ClipChamp but it still does the same thing.

Any help is appreciated.

    Hi!

Clipchamp uses Microsoft Edge WebView2, which is likely corrupted (hence the message stating it is already installed, even though the application cannot utilize WebView).

Download and install WebView to see if this resolves the issue.

WebView is also part of Microsoft Edge, so it is important to update the browser as well. To get a recent version, download and install Microsoft Edge:

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Update the Clipchamp Windows app Open Microsoft Store and select Check for Updates. Install any available Clipchamp update, then reopen the app.
    2. Try the Clipchamp desktop app if the browser path is failing On Windows 11, launch Clipchamp from the taskbar search or All Apps. On Windows 10 and 11, Clipchamp can also be installed from the Microsoft Store. If the app has not been opened for some time, update it to the latest version before starting it.
    3. Free up memory and check disk space Close other browser tabs and applications. Make sure the free space on the internal drive is greater than the size of the video files used in the project. Low RAM or low disk space can prevent Clipchamp from loading correctly.
    4. Disable browser extensions if Clipchamp is opening through a browser-based flow Content blockers, privacy extensions, ad blockers, and translation extensions can interfere with Clipchamp loading. Disable one suspected extension at a time, reload Clipchamp, and test again. On a managed device, check with IT before changing extension controls.
    5. Clear cached images/files and restart the browser If Clipchamp is being launched in Edge or Chrome during setup:
      • Clear browser cache.
      • Select All time and Cached images and files.
      • Restart the browser by entering chrome://restart or edge://restart in the address bar.
      • Reopen Clipchamp.
    6. Check hardware requirements Clipchamp works best with:
      • At least 8 GB RAM; 16 GB or more is better
      • A 64-bit computer, 64-bit OS, and 64-bit Edge or Chrome
      • A recent graphics card
      • Free disk space greater than the size of the project media
    7. If a hardware unsupported message appears in Chrome Chrome may block some GPU drivers needed for WebGL. Warning: enabling Chrome’s GPU blocklist override can cause browser instability or crashes.
      • Open chrome://flags/#ignore-gpu-blocklist
      • Set Override software rendering list to Enabled
      • Relaunch Chrome
      • If Chrome becomes unstable, disable the flag again
    8. If using Brave If Brave shows an unsupported hardware or outdated Chrome message:
      • Click the lion icon next to the address bar
      • Temporarily allow fingerprinting for Clipchamp

If the issue continues after these steps, contact Clipchamp Support.
