Build 26220.8925 is a Windows 11 Insider Beta build based on Windows 11, version 25H2. The “Evaluation expires on 8/12/2026” message is expected for Insider pre-release builds.

The current guidance from the available information is:

    1. The expiration notice does not mean normal Windows updates stop immediately. Insider preview builds use time-limited evaluation certificates.
    2. Keep checking Windows Update and confirm the device is still enrolled in the correct Insider channel.
    3. For Beta Channel devices on older expiring builds, a newer Beta build was identified in the related support guidance: 26220.9022.
    4. In Beta Channel reminders, Microsoft also notes that builds in this channel are based on Windows 11, version 25H2 via an enablement package.
    5. The desktop watermark and pre-release behavior are normal for Insider builds.

    A practical check path is:

    1. Open Settings > Windows Update.
    2. Select Check for updates.
    3. Verify Insider settings are still set to the Beta Channel.
    4. If offered, install the newer Insider build.

If the device shows up to date on build 26220.8925, the available support guidance indicates that newer certificate-renewing builds are released through Insider updates, so the next required action is to continue checking for the next Beta build.

On insider program settings check that you have Beta channel select and then try to check for updates.

Whant happen when you go to Settings and check for updates?
Do you see any new update or do you get error when trying to update?

If you can't select Beta channel then delete WindowsSelfHost key from registry,

Open regedit Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost Right click WindowsSelfHost -key and select delete. Restart.

    User's image

Restart and check insider program settings again and rejoin back to Beta channel.

If that doesn't help then download lates insider preview ISO build 26220.9586 for Beta channel.

Mount that ISO and run setup.exe from mounted image to start in-place update.

    Hi sd,

Beta build is now up to 26220.9587.

If you aren't seeing this update then

I would try going here, getting the

ISO and doing an in place update.
