How to send an email

I am trying to send an email applying for a course to improve my life and health, and I managed to send the email via another email provider, but outlook seems to be reporting my request to improve my life as “spam” and is refusing to allow me to do so by returning my mail via postmaster…

Now, mr CEO, if you want to k*ll me, just go ahead and pull the trigger, but do everyone a favor and wait six months (have a holiday or give out some bonuses or something) because in the meantime, I am still battling homelessness.

Regards,

    Hello Tomas Rhys Andrews,

I’m sorry this added difficulty when you were trying to apply for the course. It’s good that you managed to send the application through another provider.

Could you open the returned postmaster message and look for “Diagnostic information for administrators”? Please share only the error code and the explanation mentioning spam, removing email addresses and other personal details first.

That information should help narrow down why the message was rejected, rather than assuming the wording of your application caused it.

Microsoft explains where to find these details here: Failed delivery messages from the postmaster.

If Outlook.com is returning the message through postmaster and identifying it as spam, the most likely cause is that the message content, sending pattern, or account/IP reputation triggered Outlook.com anti-spam protection.

    Try these steps:

    1. Send a very simple test email to the same recipient.
      • Remove emotional or unusual wording.
      • Use plain text only.
      • Remove links, images, signatures, and attachments.
      • Send to one recipient only.
    2. Reduce anything that looks like bulk sending.
      • Do not use many recipients.
      • Do not put all recipients in BCC.
      • If sending to multiple people, send in smaller batches.
    3. Check for account or sending reputation issues.
      • If many emails were sent recently, wait and try again later.
      • New or low-reputation sending patterns can cause deliverability issues.
    4. If using Outlook with antivirus or security software, check whether email scanning is enabled.
      • Look for settings such as Internet Email Auto Protect or Internet Email Protection.
      • If enabled, disable that feature and send a test message again.
    5. Try sending from Outlook.com on the web.
      • If it also fails there, that points to an account-level or service-side anti-spam block rather than a local mail app issue.
    6. Review the recipient address.
      • Confirm there are no typos.
      • If the message says the address or domain is invalid, correct it and resend.
    7. If the message is being blocked because of content identified as spam, rewrite it in a neutral, direct format.
      • Keep the subject simple.
      • State the course application clearly.
      • Avoid language that could be interpreted as threatening or abusive.

    A safer format is:

    Subject: Course Application
    Hello,
This message is to apply for your course. Please let me know if any additional information is required.
    Regards,
    Mr. Andrews

If the problem continues after sending a plain test message from Outlook.com on the web, use Outlook.com support from the Help menu.
