I accidentally installed my new Office 365 subscription onto the wrong MS account. How do I correct this?

You cannot transfer a subscription from one account to another.

You need to cancel it from the existing account, then sign up with the new account instead.

Did you just purchase the subscription within the last 30 days? If so, Please go to https://account.live.com

Sign into your Microsoft account. Then go to Services. Click on Manage for the subscription plan you want to cancel.

Once canceld, chat with support to ask for a refund, then sign up with the account you prefered instead.

This is a public forum, so for your privacy and security, we can’t help with billing issues here. Also, no one in this forum has access to your account or payment information.

To get help, open the "Get Help" app on your computer (just search for it in the Start menu). or go to https://support.microsoft.com/contactus, Type "Billing" and press Enter. On the next screen, click "Contact support" at the bottom of the page, then choose "Microsoft 365" > "Manage my subscription". You’ll then see the option to chat with a Microsoft support agent who has access to your account to help review the issue.

An existing Microsoft 365 subscription cannot be transferred from one Microsoft account to another.

    To correct it:

    1. Sign in to the account that currently has the subscription.
    2. Turn off recurring billing or cancel the subscription so it can expire.
    3. After it expires, purchase a new subscription using the correct Microsoft account.

If this is a Microsoft 365 Family subscription and the goal is to change the sharing owner, the current subscription period must expire first, then the new owner must buy a new subscription and manually share it again with family members.

If the wrong action was an accidental switch between Microsoft 365 Personal and Family, contact support.

Important: if files are stored in the OneDrive tied to the old account, back them up before cancellation or expiration to avoid losing access to the included storage benefits.
