I'm extremely frustrated and have spent hours trying to sync my emails, but to no avail. Nothing is working.

Greetings. Microsoft 365 is actually not an operating system. It's a set of apps. Since you have a Microsoft account, you have Outlook email, which is one of the many features of a Microsoft account. Here is your Outlook email: https://www.outlook.com

And since you have a version of Microsoft 365 - there are several versions of Microsoft 365 - you also have a version of the Outlook app. You might have the Outlook web app (which itself comes in a Classic and a New version) or the downloadable Outlook 365 app.

Have I confused you sufficiently? ((;-) Not to worry. Send us a screenshot of what you see when you open Outlook, and we'll tell you exactly what you have, which does matter. Then tell us exactly what you want to do with your email.

For Microsoft 365 Personal on Windows, Outlook does not automatically pull in email, calendar, and contacts just because Microsoft 365 was installed. The email account still needs to be added in Outlook, and sync depends on how that account is configured.

    Try this in order:

    1. Confirm the account is added in Outlook
      • Open Outlook.
      • Check whether the email account is actually signed in and added.
      • If it is missing, add the account again.
    2. Remove and re-add the account if it is already there
      • If Outlook already shows the account but nothing is syncing, remove the account and add it back.
      • If prompted to remove it from all devices, choose Yes. This removes cached content, which can resolve sync problems.
    3. Check the account type
      • Sync behavior depends on whether the account is set up as Microsoft Exchange / Microsoft 365, IMAP, or POP.
      • POP and IMAP do not sync everything the same way Exchange does.
      • If calendar and contacts are expected to sync to a mobile device, the account must be added as Exchange ActiveSync or Exchange, not IMAP or POP.
    4. Verify whether the mailbox works on the web or another computer
      • If email appears elsewhere but not in Outlook on this Windows PC, the problem is likely the Outlook client configuration on that device.
    5. Run an Online Repair of Microsoft 365 on Windows
      • This can help when Outlook hangs or fails to synchronize correctly.
      • On Windows 11: Settings > Apps > Installed Apps > find Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Office > ... > Change > Online Repair > Repair.
      • Restart the computer after the repair completes.
    6. If the issue is with Outlook mobile instead of Windows Outlook
      • In the Outlook mobile app: Settings > tap the account that is not syncing > Reset Account.
      • If that fails, delete the account from the device and add it again.

If the account was syncing before and then stopped, removing the sync partnership and re-adding the account can help. If email works on the computer and there is no service outage, the issue may be with the email app.
