Copilot forgetting topics and memories after recent update

Microsoft Copilot did an update last week and now it doesn't remember the two projects we had been working on for about a year. It also takes a long time for the page to load now and it crashes frequently, like a couple minutes after being on the page. I do have the free version of Copilot and have contacted Support and tested Copilot on multiple browsers and devices. It has the same issue on all of them.

    Hi, Shea

Sorry for this frustration. Those tests make another browser reset less useful, but they don’t confirm whether the saved conversations are gone.

Here are some suggestions you can try:

First, preserve the saved record. In your Microsoft account’s privacy dashboard, go to Privacy > Empower your productivity > Copilot > Your Copilot app activity history > Copilot apps, then select Export all activity history. Open the downloaded file and check for the two projects. If needed, also check the separate Copilot Chat export under Copilot in Microsoft 365 apps.

Next, try a new conversation with a short, manually checked summary of one project’s goals, decisions, and next steps. Treat this as a temporary workaround, not a recovery of the original memories. Note whether that fresh conversation also crashes.

Add those findings to your existing support case, particularly whether the export contains the missing work. Avoid deleting history while investigating. I couldn’t verify a confirmed fix for the cross-device crashes.
