I created a family group for my son to play minecraft with some supervision but online play is still disabled.

The specific error message is "Multiplayer is disabled. Please Check your Microsoft account settings." I tried making every setting in the privacy options as open as possible but that didn't work either. I tried asking the AI support but none of it's ideas helped. If this has happened to you, how did you fix it.

    Hi Evan Anglade,

I understand that your son may be playing Minecraft on a PC or another device rather than an Xbox console. However, Minecraft multiplayer permissions for a child’s Microsoft account can still be managed through Xbox Privacy & Online Safety settings, even when the game is not being played on an Xbox.

To make sure the correct steps are provided, could you confirm:

    • Which device is your son using: Windows PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, or a mobile device?
    • Is he playing Minecraft Java Edition or Bedrock Edition?
    • Is the Multiplayer button greyed out on the main menu, or does the message appear only when joining a server or Realm?

If he is playing on Windows, please also confirm whether the multiplayer permissions were changed under your son’s profile while signed in with the family organizer’s account, rather than under the organizer’s own profile. Thank you so much for your understanding.

Do you have a game account with Microsoft for playing games? Is Xbox showing in your apps list? Provide more information on how you plan to install and play Minecraft. I have PC Game Pass.
