On Windows 11, the built-in way to screen record is Snipping Tool:

    1. Open Start.
    2. Type Snipping Tool and open it.
    3. Select the Video icon.
    4. Select New.
    5. Drag to select the area of the screen to record.
    6. Select Start to begin recording.
    7. Select Stop recording when finished.

    Keyboard shortcut:

    • Press Windows logo key + Shift + R to open the Snipping Tool video capture overlay.

    If only screenshots are needed:

    • Windows logo key + Shift + S opens the screenshot snipping overlay.
    • Print Screen captures a full-screen image to the clipboard.

If Snipping Tool recording is blocked on the school device, Xbox Game Bar can also record after it is enabled in Settings:

    1. Press Windows key + I.
    2. Search for xbox.
    3. Open Enable Xbox Game Bar.
    4. Turn it on.

For a school-managed device, recording can also be restricted by the organization. In that case, contact the school IT helpdesk or admin.

    Hello,

If this is a school-managed Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC device, the most likely cause is that screen recording has been disabled by your school's IT policies, or the recording application is not installed.

Windows LTSC editions often do not include consumer components such as Xbox Game Bar by default, which is the built-in screen recording feature many users access with Win + G. [pages.alph...solway.com], [github.com]

Try pressing Win + G. If you receive a message such as "You'll need a new app to open this ms-gamingoverlay link", Xbox Game Bar is not installed on the system. This is common on LTSC editions. [github.com], [reddit.com]

Since this is a school-owned device, you may not have permission to install screen recording software or modify Group Policy settings. In that case, you will need to contact your school's IT administrator to determine whether screen recording has been intentionally restricted and whether an approved recording tool is available.

If you can provide the exact error message you receive when attempting to record your screen, I can help determine whether the issue is caused by LTSC limitations, a missing application, or a school policy restriction.

I hope you've found something useful here. If it helps you get more insight into the issue, it's appreciated to accept the answer. Should you have more questions, feel free to leave a message. Have a nice day!

    Domic Vo.
