Town Hall - dual screen set-up

Hi,

Is it possible to show shared content on one display and speaker video on the second display when using a Microsoft Teams Room with dual front-of-room displays in a Teams Town Hall?

Currently, Teams detects both screens, but one screen shows a combined layout while the other is either unused or displays a Teams message screen.

Is this a known limitation of Town Hall, or is there any configuration/roadmap feature that supports independent content and video outputs across two displays?

Thanks.

Hi @Slav Swiatkowski , thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

This is expected in a town hall. The Teams Room shows the event's live feed, which is the same single picture remote attendees see, so the content and speaker video arrive already combined.

I couldn't find a setting that splits them across two displays, or a roadmap item for one. The closest is Front-of-room view control for Town Hall, and it only switches the room between attendee view and presenter view. I also tried a quick test town hall in Teams desktop, and the feed stayed one picture in every layout.

You can still adjust the layout. During the event, anyone with production controls can open Customize screen and pick Speaker focused, Content focused or Content only. Speaker focused gives the speaker more space beside the content, though it still won't use the second screen. You can find more details in Manage what attendees see in Microsoft Teams.

    Hi Dante,

    Many thanks for your reply.

That's a bit disappointing, to be honest. With dual-screen Teams Rooms becoming a standard deployment, I would have expected more flexibility by now in how content is distributed across displays during a Town Hall. From a room experience perspective, being able to place content on one screen and the speaker feed on the other seems like a fairly common requirement, especially in larger meeting rooms, training spaces, and event environments where screen real estate is available.

I appreciate the clarification and the workaround using the available attendee layouts, but it's surprising that in 2026 the system still treats the Town Hall feed as a single combined canvas with no option to dynamically utilize a second display.

Thanks again for taking the time to test and verify this.
