Copy/paste feature does not work in Excel (Microsoft Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024). Copy/paste works with other applications (such as Word and Notepad). I ran Quick Repair but that didn't resolve this issue.

This matches a known Excel issue where paste can fail silently in Office LTSC 2024. A fix is available, but it may not be applied automatically.

    Try this:

    1. In Excel, go to File > Account.
    2. Select Update Options > Update Now.
    3. Make sure Office LTSC 2024 is updated to Build 17932.21000 or later.
    4. Restart Excel and test copy/paste again.

If paste still fails before the update is applied, use this workaround:

    1. Go to the Home tab.
    2. Open the Paste dropdown.
    3. Select Paste Special.
    4. Try one of these options: Formula, Formula and number formats, Values, Values and number formats, or Paste Link.

If the problem is specifically with Paste Special being missing or not working, also check:

    1. File > Options > Advanced.
    2. Under Cut, copy and paste, confirm Show Paste Options button when content is pasted is enabled.
    3. Start Excel in Safe Mode by holding CTRL while opening Excel.
    4. If Paste Special works in Safe Mode, disable add-ins one at a time and leave the conflicting add-in disabled or uninstall it.

If two separate Excel instances are open, open both workbooks in the same Excel instance. Paste attributes and some clipboard-related operations do not work correctly across multiple Excel instances.

The paste function not working is a widely reported problem in Excel since a recent update, Microsoft indicate they are working to resolve the problem and will provide an update when they find the underlying problem, ensure you keep your Office version fully up to date to ensure you get the patch when they release it.

In the meantime, users report these two workarounds may work until this is resolved.

    1

Copy the data, then instead of using Paste, select Paste Special and either paste Values or Formula, depending on the data you have copied.

    2

Instead of copying the data, cur the data (Ctrl + X) then undo the cut using Ctrl + Z and then try pasting the data you have cut.
