Microsoft ToDo - missing undo button

I currently use Microsoft To Do as my primary tool for managing daily tasks and action items because I believe it is one of the best tools available for personal task organization. However, there are a few usability limitations that make it less convenient than maintaining a simple task list in OneNote.

One particularly frustrating and inefficient behavior is the lack of an easy Undo action. It is very common to accidentally click the checkbox next to a task, which immediately marks the task as completed and removes it from the current view. Recovering from this mistake requires multiple clicks and interrupts workflow.

It would significantly improve the user experience if Microsoft To Do supported a standard Undo function, such as Ctrl + Z, allowing users to quickly reverse accidental actions, including inadvertently completing a task. This would make task management faster, reduce user frustration, and align the application with common productivity software behaviors.

Expected Behavior

  • Users can press Ctrl + Z (or use an Undo button) to reverse their most recent action.
  • Accidental task completion can be immediately undone without navigating to completed tasks or performing additional steps.

Current Behavior

  • Clicking a task's checkbox instantly marks it as completed.
  • There is no simple keyboard shortcut or immediate Undo option to restore the task.
  • Recovering from accidental clicks is time-consuming and disrupts task management. Here is a more polished and

    Hi @Simon Côté,

Thank you for taking the time to share this suggestion.

As someone who also uses Microsoft To Do regularly, I think this is a very reasonable idea. Small accidental clicks happen from time to time, especially when working through a long list of tasks, so having a quick way to revert the last action would make the experience feel more forgiving and efficient. It's the kind of quality-of-life improvement that seems minor at first but can save users a lot of unnecessary clicks throughout the day.

If you haven't already, I strongly recommend submitting this suggestion through the Microsoft To Do · Community
