How do I run 365 & office profession on the same pc

Hi Andrea,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

I would like to provide you with some information as follows:

1. Microsoft 365 Apps and Office Professional are not designed to run side by side on the same device when both versions include overlapping applications, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Publisher.
2. In most cases, installing both versions on the same device may lead to activation conflicts or cause one version to overwrite the other because they use the same underlying installation technology.
3. Therefore, there is no supported configuration that allows Microsoft 365 Apps and Office Professional to operate independently and reliably on an app-by-app basis, such as using Publisher from Office Professional while continuing to use the Microsoft 365 Office apps on the same device.

For this reason, Microsoft does not provide a supported method to switch licenses between the two versions or to separate Publisher from the Office Professional installation and use it alongside Microsoft 365.

To avoid disruption and potential conflicts, you may consider the following options:

1. Use a separate environment for Publisher, such as a second computer, a virtual machine, or another independent environment with Office Professional installed.
2. Continue using Microsoft 365 on your primary device to take advantage of the benefits and features included with your subscription, such as:
   • OneDrive storage
     • Copilot features, if included with your subscription
       • The latest Office apps

This approach allows you to use both solutions in separate environments while avoiding potential conflicts that may occur when installing them on the same device.

I hope this information is helpful.
