When I start to type in my document, it starts typing at the very top of the page, leaving no header. But when I go to print, it shows up in the proper spot. How do I fix this?

Hover your mouse over the top or bottom edge of the page until the cursor changes, then double-click. Or choose Word>Preferences>View from the macOS menu bar and check the option White space between pages in Print Layout view.

This has absolutely nothing to do with margins. John Korchok is on the right track. Please see White Space

    Good day Krista,

From your description, Word is hiding the white space at the top and bottom of the page while you edit. This is why your text appears at the top of the screen, but the document still displays correctly in Print Preview and when printed.

Option 1: Restore the page margins

    Open the document in Word.

Make sure Print Layout is selected under the View menu.

Move your pointer to the top edge of the page until it changes to a double arrow.

    Double click that area.

    show white space

Word should immediately show the top margin and header area again.

Option 2: Turn on white space in Word settings

Open Word and select Preferences or Settings > Select View > Enable White space between pages in Print Layout view.

Return to your document and check whether the margins are visible.

Option 3: Check the page margins

If the issue continues, select the Layout tab > Margins > Choose Normal or select Custom Margins.

Confirm that the Top margin is not set to 0.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
