My Microsoft OneDrive plan includes 1TB of storage for one person, but my account is now showing only 5GB of storage. Please check my subscription and restore my 1TB storage.

I have had a 1TB One Drive plan for one person since around 2017, and I have always used it to store and back up all my photos and other important files. I have never experienced this issue before.

However, I have suddenly noticed that my One Drive storage is showing only 5GB, even though my current subscription still shows that I have an active 1TB plan for one person.

Could you please explain why my storage has suddenly been reduced to 5GB despite my active 1TB subscription? I would also appreciate it if you could check my account and restore the correct 1TB storage allocation.

Thank you.

    Hi!

It is possible that the subscription was not renewed.

First, it is important to check two things: go to https://account.microsoft.com/services > Sign in with the same account > Check if the subscription appears, click "Manage," and view the subscription status.

Also, check that the storage allocation is correct at https://onedrive.live.com/ .

An active 1 TB OneDrive entitlement can still show as 5 GB when the storage quota has not updated yet, the wrong Microsoft account is signed in, a Family share invitation was not accepted, or a subscription expired/renewal failed and the quota reverted.

    What to check:

    1. Confirm the subscription is active on the correct Microsoft account at Microsoft account.
      • If the subscription expired, the storage amount drops and must be renewed to restore the higher quota.
    2. Check the actual quota in Manage storage.
      • Sign in and open Microsoft storage or Manage storage to verify the current quota and usage.
      • If additional storage was recently purchased or renewed, quota changes can take time to appear.
    3. Wait for the quota update to propagate.
      • After accepting a shared Microsoft 365 Family invitation, storage can take about 2 hours to appear.
      • After buying additional OneDrive storage, it can take up to 24 hours, and if it still has not updated after 48 hours, support should be contacted.
      • Similar support guidance also notes 24–48 hours after renewal in some cases.
    4. Refresh the storage page.
      • Go to Manage storage, refresh the page, and check whether the 1 TB quota appears.
    5. If using a shared Family subscription, verify the invitation was accepted.
      • Each account has its own storage quota. Accepting the invitation is required before the 1 TB allocation appears.
    6. If the quota still shows 5 GB after 48 hours, contact Microsoft Support to review the OneDrive provisioning on the account.

    Important behavior while over quota:

    • OneDrive becomes read-only for existing files.
    • New files cannot be uploaded, edited, or synced.
    • After 3 months over the OneDrive limit, the account can be frozen.
    • After 6 months, files may be deleted and are non-recoverable.

A direct account check or restoration cannot be performed here, but the supported path is to verify the subscription and storage pages first, then contact support if the quota remains incorrect after the documented wait period.
