A group of Microsoft Products and technologies used for sharing and managing content, knowledge, and applications.
It depends on the product and what the hyperlink points to.
- In Publisher web publications, if a page is moved, Publisher automatically updates hyperlinks to the correct page.
- If a hyperlink points to a bookmark that was moved or deleted, the link can stop working and must be edited.
- If a hyperlink points to an external file or website, renaming or moving the target can break the hyperlink unless the path is updated.
- In SharePoint, folder links are not permanent. If a folder is renamed or moved, its URL changes, so previously shared links can break. SharePoint Document ID applies to documents, not folders.
- In Excel, relative links can continue to work if files are moved together and their relative positions stay the same.
So, a hyperlink does not always change automatically when a title, folder name, or location changes. It may update in some Publisher scenarios, but for SharePoint folders and many file-based links, renaming or moving the target can break the link.
