I am logged in for school in Ireland but I am going away to Spain. I will need to log in while I am away to keep up with classes etc. How can I contact my IT team with the GCC school in GRETB, Galway Ireland?

    Hi @Rioghna Ashford

As your school manages the account, you will need to contact the school through its official website or your usual student support channel and ask for your request to be forwarded to the appropriate IT team.

When contacting them, provide your travel dates and explain that you will need access to your school account and online classes while in Spain. Access while travelling will depend on the school’s security policies. A sign-in from Spain may require additional verification or may be restricted if the school uses a location-based Conditional Access policy.

Ask the IT team to confirm whether sign-ins from Spain are permitted for your account and whether any existing Conditional Access policy could affect your access.

The IT administrator can refer to the following official Microsoft guidance:

    • This article explains how location-based Conditional Access policies can be configured using countries, regions, or IP ranges. The administrator can review the school’s existing policies to determine whether sign-ins from Spain are restricted: Conditional Access: Block access by location
    • The administrator can check which Conditional Access policies may apply to your account when signing in from Spain by using the following tool: Conditional Access What If tool
    • If you experience a sign-in problem while travelling, the administrator can review the sign-in record to determine which policies were applied and whether one of them affected your access: Review Conditional Access details in sign-in logs

If access from Spain is restricted, the IT administrator will need to determine whether an exception is permitted under the school’s security policies. Any changes should be made by the administrator while maintaining required security controls, such as multifactor authentication.

Before travelling, make sure your registered authentication method, such as Microsoft Authenticator, is working correctly. If permitted by the school, you may also want to register an alternative authentication method in case your usual method is unavailable while abroad.

Find Your Microsoft 365 Admin: If you're unsure who manages Microsoft 365 accounts for your school, please contact your school's IT Help Desk, Technology Support team, or Student Services office, you can find guidance on locating them here: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin?

Please note that only your school’s IT administrator can confirm whether access from Spain is permitted. As fellow user in this community forum, I cannot access or change your school’s account settings or security policies.

I hope this information helps point you in the appropriate direction.
