Using the New Outlook for Mac for personal email and calendar
If Outlook on the MacBook and iPhone stopped syncing after working before, the supported fixes are:
- Check whether the mailbox still works in Outlook on the web. If it does, the issue is likely with the app sync rather than the mailbox itself.
- In Outlook on the web, open the People pane, select Favorites under the mailbox, and delete all Favorites contacts. This is the current workaround for a known issue where Outlook for Mac and Outlook Mobile intermittently stop syncing.
- If the problem is on the iPhone, remove the mobile device partnership and sync again:
- Go to Settings > General > Mobile devices in Outlook on the web.
- Select the device and delete the device partnership.
- Select Save.
- Power off the phone completely, restart it, and sync the mailbox again.
- If calendar and contacts are not syncing on the phone, confirm the account is not set up as IMAP or POP. Those protocols sync email only. Calendar and contacts require Exchange ActiveSync.
- In New Outlook for Mac, if the mailbox works in Outlook on the web and on iPhone but not reliably on the Mac, reset the account from Tools > Accounts > select the account > Manage or the three-dot menu > Reset account.
- If Conditional Access is enabled by an administrator, Outlook for Mac sync issues were fixed in 16.92 (Build 24120731). Updating Outlook for Mac to that version or later resolves that specific issue.
