I deleted the widget boxes on my sharepoint page and need to add them back. I understand they are called widgets. How do I add these as a button box

If this is a modern SharePoint page, the “button box” is typically the Button web part.

    To add it back:

    1. Open the page.
    2. Select Edit.
    3. Hover next to or below the paragraph where the button should appear.
    4. Select the + to add a web part.
    5. Choose Button.
    6. Enter the button label and set the link or action.

If the Button web part does not appear:

    • In SharePoint in Microsoft 365, it is supported on modern pages.
    • In SharePoint Server Subscription Edition, it depends on the 22H2 feature update and whether the farm is set to Early release.
    • In classic pages, web parts are added differently through Settings > Edit page or the Insert tab.

If the page is a classic page and the missing item was an app/widget area, use:

    1. Go to Settings > Edit page.
    2. Click where the part should go.
    3. On the Insert tab, select App Part.
    4. Select the app part name, then select Add.

If the goal is specifically to place embedded code on a SharePoint page, one documented path is:

    1. Edit the page.
    2. Select the location.
    3. On the Insert tab, select Embed Code.

    Hi Tracy,

In SharePoint, these items are typically referred to as web parts rather than widgets. If you previously had multiple clickable button-style boxes on the page, they were most likely created using the Quick Links web part, which supports layouts such as Buttons, Tiles, and Grid.

    To add them back:

    • Open the SharePoint page and select Edit.
    • Click the + icon where you would like the button boxes to appear.
    • Search for and select Quick Links.
    • Select + Add links and add each destination link.
    • In the web part settings, choose a layout such as Button, Tiles, or Grid.
    • Select Republish to save your changes.

For reference: Use the Quick Links web part | Microsoft Support

If the button boxes were deleted recently and you would like to restore the original version of the page, you may also be able to use Version History:

    • Open the page.
    • Select Page details.
    • Choose Version history.
    • Review a version from before the boxes were removed.
    • Restore the appropriate version if needed.

For reference: Restore a previous version of an item or file in SharePoint | Microsoft Support

If the recreated boxes do not match what you had previously, please send me a screenshot (with any sensitive information removed), and I'll be happy to help identify the exact web part that was originally used.

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to let me know, and I'll be happy to help.

    Kind regards.
