I need to talk to an agent. I am trying to establish an existing Comcast/Xfinity account in Outlook 365 on a MAC laptop using the latest version of Tahoe. I use Outlook on all of my apple devices, desktop Mac, iPhone and Ipad.

    Hi @Jim Kimberly

You should be able to add the existing Comcast/Xfinity address to Outlook without creating a new email account.

In Outlook for Mac, select Outlook > Settings > Accounts.

    Select + Add Account.

Enter your full Comcast email address and select Continue.

If automatic setup fails, choose Sync directly with IMAP or the option to configure the account manually.

    Use these Xfinity settings:

    • Incoming server: imap.comcast.net
    • Port: 993
    • Encryption: SSL/TLS
    • Outgoing server: smtp.comcast.net
    • Port: 587
    • Encryption: TLS
    • Username: Your full Comcast email address
    • Password: Your current Xfinity password
    • Authentication: Required for the outgoing server

Before trying again, sign in to Xfinity webmail and make sure that access for third-party email programs is enabled. Xfinity states that this must be allowed before a Comcast.net address can be used in Outlook or another email application. Xfinity also recommends IMAP when the same mailbox is used on several devices, as in your case.

Microsoft’s current Outlook for Mac instructions confirm that an IMAP account can be added from Outlook > Settings > Accounts > Add Account.

If you still need a Microsoft support agent, open Outlook and select Help > Contact Support. Since the mailbox and its authentication are provided by Xfinity, you may also need to contact Xfinity if the password is accepted on their website but rejected in Outlook.
