Problem description

I am unable to create an Azure Database for MySQL flexible server in any US region via the Azure portal. The deployment fails with a 'ProvisionNotSupportedForRegion' error, indicating that provisioning in the requested region is not supported, and suggesting that my subscription may lack access to create a server in that region.

Environment

Azure Database for MySQL flexible server in any US region, deployed via Azure portal. Burstable Standard_B1ms (1 vCore, 2 GiB memory), 32gb storage for development / testing workload

What I've already tried

I captured the deployment error details and shared them. I reviewed the related guidance, which associates this issue with regional provisioning restrictions at the subscription level. No additional configuration changes, alternative deployment attempts, or diagnostic steps have been documented.

Current status

The deployment continues to fail with the same 'ProvisionNotSupportedForRegion' error, and I am seeking assistance to understand whether my subscription has the necessary regional access or capacity approval to create a MySQL flexible server in the US. I would like guidance on how to resolve this regional restriction or how to proceed with a quota exception.

    Hi @Jh-8285

Good news, this one has a free, self-service fix. The error doesn't mean the region is broken. It means your subscription hasn't been granted access to create MySQL Flexible Servers there yet, which is common on newer subscriptions in busy regions. You can request that access yourself.

    1. Open https://portal.azure.com/#create/Microsoft.Support. If the AI assistant appears, click "Switch to classic experience".
    2. Choose Issue type: Service and subscription limits (quotas), Quota type: Azure Database for MySQL Flexible Server, then Next.
    3. Click Enter details, pick Region access, select the region you want (for example East US 2), and enter 1 vCore.
    4. Save and submit. No support plan is needed, and you'll get an automated email within minutes.

A couple of tips for a dev/test server:

    • Less busy regions like West US 3, North Central US or South Central US are often approved faster than East US.
    • If US access keeps getting declined and location doesn't matter for your testing, Canada Central is a close alternative that usually has capacity.

If this helped, please click Accept Answer so others hitting this error can find it.
