Hi Team,

We would like to know if there are any APIs that could be used for automating the Signing of LSA (.cab file).

We've seen that there are public APIs for Hardware submission which are for drivers.

Kindly suggest for LSA File Signing.

    Hello Biju,

Based on the currently documented Microsoft Hardware Dashboard APIs, there does not appear to be a publicly documented API for automating LSA File Signing Service submissions.

Microsoft's documentation for LSA signing currently describes the workflow through the Partner Center hardware dashboard:

Register for the Windows Hardware Developer Program.

Open Partner Center → Hardware dashboard → File Signing Services.

    Select Submit New LSA.

Provide the LSA package name and upload the required CAB file.

    Submit the package.

After processing, use the submission ID to view the submission and download the signed package.

This is different from the documented Hardware Dashboard APIs, which expose APIs for supported hardware/driver submission scenarios. I don't see an LSA File Signing endpoint documented in the public API documentation, so I would not recommend attempting to automate the portal using undocumented Partner Center endpoints.

For LSA plug-ins, Microsoft also states that plug-ins that don't have a WHQL certification process must use the LSA file signing service.

Therefore, if your requirement is a CI/CD pipeline that automatically submits CAB files for LSA signing and retrieves the signed package, the currently documented approach does not provide a public LSA-specific API. You would need to use the supported Partner Center workflow or contact the Windows Hardware/Partner Center support team to ask whether your organization has access to any private/partner automation interface.

Also note that the LSA signing requirements should be checked before submission, including the required certificate and CAB/package requirements.

I would avoid automating the web portal through undocumented APIs because those endpoints can change and are not a supported integration surface.

No public API for automating LSA File Signing Services is described in the provided Partner Center hardware API documentation.

What is documented for LSA signing is the portal-based flow in Partner Center hardware dashboard:

    1. Sign in to Partner Center hardware dashboard.
    2. Select File Signing Services.
    3. Select Submit New LSA.
    4. Upload the signed CAB file.
    5. Submit and then download the signed package after processing.

The documented hardware APIs are for hardware products, driver submissions, and preproduction package signing. The API documentation lists driver-related scenarios and preprod package management, but it does not list an API for LSA File Signing Services submissions.

    For LSA plug-ins specifically:

    • LSA plug-ins that do not have a WHQL certification process must be signed by using the file signing service for LSA.
    • LSA submissions require an EV code signing certificate.
    • The submission must be a single signed CAB file containing the files to be signed.
