For a USB wireless mouse that uses a USB key/receiver, Bluetooth pairing is not needed.
- Insert the USB receiver into a USB port on the laptop.
- Make sure the mouse has working batteries and is turned on.
- Wait a few seconds. Windows usually detects and installs the device automatically.
- Move the mouse and confirm the pointer responds.
If it is not detected:
- Unplug the USB receiver, wait a little while, then plug it back in.
- Try a different USB port.
- If using a USB hub, remove it and plug the receiver directly into the laptop.
- Check that the mouse sensor and receiver are clean and not blocked.
- Test the mouse on another PC. If it does not work there either, the mouse may need to be replaced.
If Windows still does not add the device automatically, add hardware manually:
- Select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices.
- Select Add device.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
