Cannot connect to Windows Hello in Clipchamp

When I try to sign into Microsoft Clipchamp, I am able to submit my email and password, after which a window comes up informing me that my Microsoft Account will need to be signed into via Windows Hello. I then receive the window above asking me to enter my PIN (first image below), and I do so. Then, after that, I get the "Just a Moment..." loading screen (the one with the blue circling dots), and after around 2 minutes I get the screen depicted in the second image.

This is rather confusing. Why is it saying my email is having trouble becoming registered with Windows Hello? Is it not already? How can that be if I already have my PIN set up?

I am able to use my PIN in other programs where it is asked. The issue only exists in Clipchamp.

Thank you for your quick response, Kai.

I was able to resolve the problem by signing into the email I normally use with my other apps.

For some reason, the day I had the issue, I had just been clicking on the wrong email (which look similar but is not one I use for any of my apps) when the Windows Hello sign-in screen came up. When I tried again today, the correct email was listed in the same place on the selection screen where the wrong email I had clicked on that day had appeared.

I have no idea why that email was on the selection menu instead of the one I normally use! But I'm in now. Funny how things like that happen!

    Hi, Qusro Qader

Please try these steps in order:

    1. Sign out of Windows and sign back in For Windows Hello PIN creation and registration errors, signing out and then signing back in is a documented mitigation.
    2. Try creating or resetting the PIN again If Windows prompts to create the PIN again after one already exists, that can happen after security updates or system changes. Resetting the PIN is also recommended when PIN sign-in has issues.
    3. Check for Windows updates PIN issues can be caused by security updates or system changes. Install available updates, then try Clipchamp again.
    4. If using the Clipchamp Windows app, clear the app’s local cache This is a more advanced step because it removes local app data for Clipchamp sign-in state.
      • Press Windows + R
      • Open: %localappdata%\Packages\Clipchamp.Clipchamp_yxz26nhyzhsrt\
      • Clear the contents of these folders:
      • AC
      • LocalState
      • LocalCache
      • Start Clipchamp and sign in again
    5. Try temporarily use the web version. Clipchamp in the browser or use the personal account sign-in path For personal Microsoft accounts, use https://app.clipchamp.com or the Clipchamp Windows app. If sign-in loops or fails, Clipchamp also supports Continue with email > Send a link to my email as an alternate sign-in method.
    6. If the issue continues, contact Clipchamp support through the in-app chat For personal/family account connection problems, support can provide additional troubleshooting.

We will first confirm whether this is an issue with the Clipchamp program or a problem with the Microsoft account login authorization.

    Thank you.

    Hi, Qusro Qader

Your PIN appears to be working: the first screenshot shows Windows asking for it, while the second says the account was added to Windows but could not be registered for Windows Hello. That points to a problem with this account’s app sign-in, not proof that your existing PIN is broken.

Here are some suggestions you can try:

Open Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts and check Accounts used by other apps. If the email you use for Clipchamp is listed there as an additional account, remove that entry, then reopen Clipchamp and sign in again. Don’t remove the account you use to sign in to Windows; removing an app account may also sign it out of other apps.

Open Microsoft Store > Library > Get updates to update Clipchamp. Then go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Clipchamp > Advanced options and select Repair, if available. Avoid Reset for now, especially if you have projects whose original media files are only on this PC.

If it still stalls after the PIN, try signing in while connected to a different network, such as a phone hotspot. That can help narrow down whether the connection is interrupting the sign-in process.

Thank you for your patience in reading, I hope this information has been helpful to you.

This usually points to a Windows Hello PIN registration problem during Clipchamp sign-in, not to the PIN being unusable everywhere. A PIN can still work for other sign-ins while Windows Hello registration fails in a specific app flow.

    Try these steps in order:

    4. Check whether a work or school account is connected in Windows In Settings > Accounts > Access work or school, see whether a work or school account is listed. If one is present, disconnect it, restart the PC, and test Clipchamp again. This has been an accepted fix in similar Windows Hello “currently unavailable” cases.
    5. If using the Clipchamp Windows app, clear the app’s local cache This is a more advanced step because it removes local app data for Clipchamp sign-in state.
      • Press Windows + R
      • Open: %localappdata%\Packages\Clipchamp.Clipchamp_yxz26nhyzhsrt\
      • Clear the contents of these folders:
        • AC
        • LocalState
        • LocalCache
      • Start Clipchamp and sign in again
    6. Try Clipchamp in the browser or use the personal account sign-in path For personal or family Microsoft accounts, use https://app.clipchamp.com or the Clipchamp Windows app. If sign-in loops or fails, Clipchamp also supports Continue with email > Send a link to my email as an alternate sign-in method.
    7. If the issue continues, contact Clipchamp support through the in-app chat For personal/family account connection problems, support can provide additional troubleshooting.

The message about the account being “added to Windows” but failing to register for Windows Hello is consistent with a partial registration problem rather than proof that Windows Hello is not set up at all.
