Im actually heated right now, its the second time this has happend. Im busy on my assignment, word crashes and everything i do gets deleted. Whats going on? I've done so many things to recover my files, contacted so many different things to get them back, but no they're gone forever. I must now start over with my multi page assignment. It took me forever to get to where I was, now i must start over and its due today. When i tried contacting yalls help. it took forever and you lot were useless. There isnt even a proper recovery system like on windows. You guys need to get yourselves together. this is disgusting now. this is horrible. Your a multi-billion company, word used to even be free now we have to pay, and on top of that the system is trash. I wish i could swear at yall, ngl. Disapointing, anger inducing, etc. Nxa

My question is what must i do now, coz Ive basically tried almost everything?

    Good day Z,

I'm sorry to hear this happened, particularly with a deadline today. Losing such a significant amount of work can be incredibly stressful and I completely understand your concern.

Just to gently clarify before going any further, this forum is separate from Microsoft Support. I don’t have the ability to access or investigate individual accounts because this is a user‑to‑user support forum.

Since you haven't mentioned which troubleshooting steps you've already tried, please refer to the suggestions below:

    Step 1: Check Document Recovery

    Reopen Word.

If the Document Recovery pane appears, open the most recent version.

Save it immediately using File > Save As and give it a new name.

    Step 2: Check Version History

If the document is stored in OneDrive or SharePoint:

    Open the document in Word.

Click the document name at the top of the window.

    Select Version History.

    Open each available version.

    Look for the missing content.

If you find it, copy the text into a new document.

Save the new document with a different name.

Restore a version only after confirming it contains the correct content.

Step 3: Check Word AutoRecovery files on Mac

Open Finder > Select Go > Go to Folder.

    Enter:

    ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Word/Data/Library/Preferences/AutoRecovery

Look for recovery files with recent modification dates.

Open any relevant files in Word.

If you find the missing file, use Save As and save it with a new file name.

Additional information is available in the following resource: Recover files in Office for Mac | Microsoft Support

To help prevent further crashes while you continue working on your assignment, I recommend using Word for the web for now > Sign in with your school account, save your document to OneDrive and make sure AutoSave is turned on so your changes are saved automatically.

When you have some free time, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

1/ Make sure your Mac and the Word app are fully updated.

    2/ Check Word add-ins:

Open Word and select Insert > Get Add-ins or My Add-ins.

Review any installed third party add-ins.

Remove or disable any add-ins that aren't required, especially those installed before the issue started.

Restart Word and check whether the issue continues.

    3/ Reinstall Word app.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
