A family of Microsoft word processing software products for creating web, email, and print documents.
Hello Ted L,
Other Word for Android users have reported similar behavior where the new toolbar takes up too much editing space and covers the active text area.
You can review their reports and the temporary workarounds discussed in this related thread here:
Word for Android ribbon hiding the text area
One affected user in that thread found that pressing Enter to move the active line higher allowed them to continue editing temporarily. You may also use your phone’s Back button to hide the keyboard and reposition the document.
Since Microsoft Q&A is a user-to-user support forum, contributors and moderators cannot change Word’s interface directly. I strongly encourage you to submit feedback from within the Word app through Profile picture > Help & Feedback.
Please include your device model, Android version, Word app version, and a clear description of how the toolbar affects editing. Reports submitted through the app can include diagnostic information and are the most direct way to bring the issue to the product team.
The more affected users who report the same usability problem, the better its impact can be understood.
Feel free reply back to this post if you need further assistance, I'll be happy to help.
