Change email associated with Microsoft Account
I along with many more people may lose access to their email accounts provided by Virgin Media. See: Helping customers understand upcoming changes to their Virgin Media email services - Virgin Media O2
As a result I contacted Microsoft Support and spent a very long time arguing via the chat option about creating 'Alias' accounts. As far as I was concerned I could not understand how this would help as 'alias' does not change the person it only changes the name of the person or in this case the email. I asked to the Agent to escalate my case, which they did.
I was contacted by telephone and the Agent after reading my case so far and after listening to my complaint, because that is what it was, explained to effect that there is no requirement for 'Alias' so called email addresses, and that I could use the email address associated with my Microsoft Account whether or not it was activated (in other words Microsoft does not care whether or not the email address is active.
The Agent sent me an email confirming that I could use the deactivated email address to confirm that I could use the email address to sign into My Microsoft Account and other Microsoft Services.
When I checked my Microsoft Account>Info>Edit account info>There is no longer any reference to 'Alias' accounts and I can use any of my email accounts and telephone number to sign in and make any of them Primary. It makes things so much easier.
