I have spam that keeps adding event to calender. I have tried lots of ways to stop this but in email events i do not have the options to

Don't show event summaries in email or on my calendar, or
Only show event summaries in email
Add events yoursels

This is a know issue. Microsoft is aware of the problem but there is currently no fix. Unless you are in an IT Managed Environment there is nothing you can do to stop them.

Hello Cath Turner,

Could you open one of those spam calendar entries and check whether it shows an organizer and buttons such as Accept, Tentative, or Decline?

If it does, it is likely a calendar invitation rather than an event automatically created from an email, so changing Events from email may not address it.

If it does not, and Outlook is creating the event from an ordinary email, then the Events from email setting is the relevant place to investigate.

That distinction would help narrow down why the options you found online are not appearing in your case.

When opening the event on the calender yes it does have accept, decline etc.

Hello Cath Turner,

Thanks for confirming. Since these entries have Accept and Decline options, they are meeting invitations rather than events Outlook is automatically creating from ordinary emails. That is why the Events from email settings you found are not the relevant controls here.

For recurring spam invitations, report the unwanted invitation as junk/spam where Outlook provides that option. If they repeatedly come from the same sender or domain, you can also add that sender or domain to Settings > Mail > Junk email > Blocked senders and domains.

I hope that helps stop these from continuing to reach your calendar.

If those two options are missing, use the available Events from email settings in Outlook on the web or Outlook.com and turn off automatic calendar creation instead.

Steps:

Open Outlook on the web or Outlook.com.
Select Settings.
Go to Calendar > Events from email.
Turn off Automatically add events to my calendar from email if that option is shown.
If individual event-type checkboxes are shown instead, clear the event types you do not want added.
If Mark events as private so only I can see them is enabled, that only affects visibility, not whether spam events are created.

If Outlook shows the message “Events from email aren't turned on for your account.”, then this feature is already off.

Important details:

These settings cannot be changed in Outlook for Windows; they must be changed in Outlook on the web or Outlook.com.
In classic Outlook on the web, the path can be Settings > Options or Mail > Calendar > Events from email.
For commercial or business accounts, package delivery information is not added automatically.

If the spam items are actually meeting invites rather than events created from email, turning off Events from email may not stop them.
