A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data
Dear howard jenkins,
Based on your description, I understand you can't access your Microsoft 365 Excel trial, which is preventing you from working.
Unfortunately, as this is a community forum, no one here has direct access to customer accounts, subscriptions, or Microsoft's account systems, so we cannot directly fix or restore access to your Microsoft 365 trial.
To help narrow down the issue, could you please provide a bit more information?
- Which Microsoft 365 trial subscription are you using (for example, Microsoft 365 Personal, Microsoft 365 Family, Microsoft 365 Business Standard trial, Microsoft 365 Business Premium trial, or another trial)?
- Are you signing in with a Microsoft personal account (such as Outlook.com, Hotmail.com, Live.com, or Gmail used as a Microsoft account) or a work/school account provided by an organization?
- What exact error message do you receive when the sign-in fails?
- When you mention an old and new email address, was the email address on the Microsoft account recently changed, or are these two separate accounts?
If you're using the Excel desktop app on a Mac, you can also remove cached Office credentials from Keychain Access. Open Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access, search for entries related to Microsoft Office, Microsoft 365, ADAL, MSAL, OneAuth, or Outlook, remove the relevant entries, then restart your Mac and try signing in again.
In the meantime, can you sign in successfully at https://account.microsoft.com or https://www.office.com using either email address?
- If not, please try signing in using an InPrivate/Incognito browser session, clear the browser cache, and test from a different browser or device to rule out a local sign-in issue.
- Otherwise, you can refer to this article for more troubleshooting steps: I can't sign in to my Microsoft account
For the fastest support, you may need to contact Microsoft Support directly so they can verify the account owner, review the trial subscription status, and investigate the sign-in failure. They have access to account and licensing information that is not available to community members. Here's the Microsoft Official Support site: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus
If you are using a work or school account, please reach out to your IT administrator and ask them to create a support ticket on your behalf through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. The administrator can also verify whether your account and trial subscription are active and work directly with Microsoft Support to investigate the sign-in issue. If you have any questions or if I have misunderstood anything, please feel free to reach out. I'm looking forward to your update.
