I have used Outlook on my phone for more than 2 years. But in the recent past, Whenever I open Outlook email on my phone (Techno Spark 10 Pro), the app just opens well but before I start browsing through my mails, it closes. This has become a challenge for me, especially when I need to respond to work related emails while I'm away from my laptop. I have updated the app severally, including uninstalling and re-installing afresh without success

Hi @Ronald Mutuah

Thank you for posting your question in the Q&A Forum.

I understand how challenging it is when the Outlook app keeps crashing right after opening, especially when you need to respond to work emails on the go.

Since you’ve already tried updating and reinstalling the app, let’s perform some deeper troubleshooting steps. The issue may be related to corrupted app data or device-specific battery management settings on your phone.

Clear Outlook App Data and Cache

This step deletes all corrupted local data stored on the phone, allowing you to set up the app fresh without conflict.

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Outlook > Storage.
  • Tap Clear Cache and then Clear Data.
  • Reopen the Outlook app and try logging in again.

Disable Battery Optimization

Aggressive power-saving settings on some Android devices can force apps like Outlook to close unexpectedly.

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Outlook > Battery (If the direct "Battery" path is unavailable, try Settings > Battery > Battery optimization to find Outlook).
  • Set this to Don't optimize or Allow background activity to ensure Outlook can sync emails reliably.

Remove and re-add your account

  • Open Outlook > Settings.
  • Select your email account. Tap on Delete account and then confirm your decision.
  • Return to Settings > Select Add mail account > Enter your email and password to log in.

Update System Components

  • Go to Settings > System > Software update and install any available Android updates.
  • Open the Google Play Store, search for Android System WebView, and update it if available.

If the problem continues after trying all these steps, the issue is likely a device-specific bug affecting your phone model. Please let us know your Outlook app version, Android version, and whether the issue occurs when using mobile data or Wi-Fi, we’ll help you investigate further.

In the meantime, you can use the Outlook mobile website through your phone’s browser as a temporary workaround.

We appreciate your patience and look forward to receiving this information so we can assist you with the next steps.

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with the Outlook app on your phone. The problem of the app closing unexpectedly can be caused by several factors. Here are some potential solutions you can try:

    1. Check for Updates: Ensure that both your phone's operating system and the Outlook app are fully updated. Sometimes, compatibility issues can arise from outdated software.
    2. Clear Cache: Go to your phone's settings, find the Outlook app, and clear its cache. This can help resolve issues related to stored data that may be causing the app to crash.
    3. Check for Device Compatibility: Ensure that your Techno Spark 10 Pro meets the minimum requirements for running the latest version of the Outlook app.
    4. Reinstall the App: Since you've already uninstalled and reinstalled the app, make sure to restart your phone after the reinstallation to clear any lingering issues.
    5. Check for Conflicting Apps: Sometimes, other apps can interfere with Outlook. Try closing other apps running in the background or check if any recently installed apps might be causing the conflict.
    6. Network Connection: Ensure that you have a stable internet connection, as connectivity issues can sometimes cause the app to malfunction.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to check for any known issues with the Outlook app on the Microsoft support page or consider reaching out to Microsoft support for further assistance.
