For anyone stumbling on this, we had the same problem in our hybrid enviroment.
- The Set-CsUser Command is deprecated and doesn't work
- There was no msRTCSIP-PrimaryUserAddress in the ADUC
- We couldn't edit the properties neither in Entra nor in Exchange online
The solution was to update the SIP Adress via our local Exchange.
Either through the GUI:
User Attributes -> E-Mail-Addresses -> Remove old entry for SIP:*****@domain.com*
Or
via the Exchange Management Shell with the Set-RemoteMailbox Command:
- Check if there is an alternative SIP-Address available
Get-RemoteMailbox -Identity******@domain.com| Select EmailAddresses
Or
Add the SIP-Address directly (If it already exists, you'll get a warning that the command ran without any changes)
Set-RemoteMailbox -Identity******@domain.com-EmailAddresses @{add="sip:******@domain.com"} - Remove the old SIP-Address
Set-RemoteMailbox -Identity******@domain.com-EmailAddresses @{remove="sip:old.user@domaincom"}
After a few hours this should sync and the correct Chat Address should be displayed in Teams.
