The process of installing, configuring, and customizing Visual Studio to support development workflows across languages, platforms, and workloads.
Hi @Bajwa, Rick ,
Thank you for sharing the detailed information you received. I understand that you are developing web applications in Visual Studio 2026 and want to identify and remediate WCAG 2.2 issues in HTML.
Visual Studio 2026 does not currently document a built-in WCAG 2.2 accessibility checker for web applications. Therefore, there is no Visual Studio setting that you need to enable to obtain the web accessibility features described in the information you shared.
For web applications, Microsoft’s documented approach is to run the application from Visual Studio and test the rendered page using Accessibility Insights for Web in Microsoft Edge.
You can use it as follows:
- Install Accessibility Insights for Web in Microsoft Edge.
- Run your web application from Visual Studio.
- Open the running application in Microsoft Edge.
- Open Accessibility Insights from the browser’s Extensions menu.
- Run FastPass to identify common, high-impact accessibility issues.
- Use the reported findings to correct the relevant HTML, CSS, or JavaScript in Visual Studio.
- Run Assessment for a guided evaluation against WCAG 2.2 Level AA success criteria.
- Repeat the tests for each relevant page, dialog, component state, and core user flow.
You can also use Microsoft Edge DevTools to inspect individual elements, including text contrast, accessible names and roles, keyboard focusability, and the accessibility tree. Because automated tools cannot identify every accessibility issue, testing should also include keyboard navigation, screen readers, zoom, high-contrast mode, and interactive user flows.
Please note that Accessibility Insights for Web runs as a browser extension alongside Visual Studio. You use Visual Studio to modify the source code and Microsoft Edge to evaluate the rendered web application.
You’re also welcome to share your feedback on my response by following this guidance .
Have a nice day! I look forward to hearing from you.
