Using Classic Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
Hi, Julie Weisner
I understand how frustrating it is when emails arrive late. Connection problems or add-ins can affect Outlook, so it’s worth checking these before making bigger changes.
Here are some suggestions you can try if you’re using classic Outlook for Windows:
Check the bottom of the Outlook window. If it says Working Offline, select the Send/Receive tab, then Work Offline to reconnect.
Check automatic mail retrieval. Select Send/Receive > Send/Receive Groups > Define Send/Receive Groups. Choose All Accounts and make sure Schedule an automatic send/receive every … minutes is checked. You can shorten the interval if Outlook checks too infrequently.
Test without add-ins. Close Outlook, press Windows + R, type outlook.exe /safe, and press Enter. If emails arrive normally, select File > Options > Add-ins > Manage: COM Add-ins > Go, then uncheck add-ins one at a time and restart Outlook to identify the cause.
