    Hello,

May I know which Office version and Mac version you are using? Microsoft has recently disabled Office apps for older versions of macOS.

    Do these steps:

    Via https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365-activation-licensing/what-to-try-if-you-can-t-install-or-activate-office-for-mac

    1. Open Spotlight by selecting the magnifying glass at the top right of your desktop.
    2. Search for and open Keychain.
    3. Type in Office and then delete the data license file.
    4. Go to Get Help to run the Microsoft 365 Activation troubleshooter.

I look forward to hearing from you to get the results of the troubleshooting.

A 0x0 error on Office for Mac can put Word and Excel into reduced functionality, which blocks editing and saving. The supported fix is to update Office first, then reinstall if updating does not resolve it.

    1. Verify macOS version.
      • Microsoft 365 or Office on macOS requires at least macOS 12 or higher.
    2. Close all Office apps.
    3. Update Office.
      • If Office was installed from microsoft.com:
        • Open Finder > Applications > Microsoft AutoUpdate.
        • Select Update All or update Word and Excel individually.
      • If Office was installed from the App Store:
        • Open App Store > Updates.
        • Select Update next to the Microsoft apps, or Update All.
    4. Test Word or Excel again after the updates finish.
    5. If the apps still show 0x0 and remain read-only or cannot save:
      • Completely uninstall Office for Mac.
      • Reinstall Office from the same source as the purchase:
        • App Store purchase/install source: reinstall from the App Store.
        • Microsoft purchase/install source: reinstall from the Microsoft 365 install source.
      • This is the accepted resolution in similar Mac 0x0 cases when updating does not fix the issue.
    6. If files are stored in OneDrive, also check storage space.
      • If OneDrive is full, files can open but not save until storage is available again.
    7. If saving still fails after activation is restored, check common save blockers:
      • Insufficient disk space.
      • Antivirus software interrupting the save process.
      • Missing read/write/modify/delete permission on the save location.
      • Saving to an external or network drive with a failed connection.
      • Save interruption while Office is creating a temporary file; in that case, try saving to a different local drive or folder.

Risk note: uninstalling Office removes the local app installation and requires reinstalling before use.
