I need to renew an App Service Domain that expired more than 18 days ago.

Azure App Service
Azure App Service

Azure App Service is a service used to create and deploy scalable, mission-critical web apps.

    Hello Cesar Rodriguez

Microsoft’s only provides self-service renewal through App Service Domains → Domain renewal → Renew domain.
    Microsoft Learn
In the normal renewal window, the button becomes unavailable and there is no supported CLI/API workaround to force renewal. Microsoft Learn

    There are then two possibilities:

    • If the domain is in a registrar redemption/held state, historically Microsoft Support has sometimes been able to coordinate redemption with GoDaddy, usually with an additional redemption fee. Microsoft Learn
    • If it has progressed to a Pending/release state, even Azure Support may not be able to override it; you may have to wait until the registrar releases the domain and then register it again if it is still available. Microsoft Learn

So for a domain expired just over 18 days, I would open Microsoft Support immediately rather than wait. There isn't a reliable supported self-service method once the Azure renewal option has disappeared.

Azure Portal → Help + Support → Create a support request and ask Microsoft to check whether the App Service Domain is still recoverable/redemption-eligible. Include the domain name, expiration date, and App Service Domain resource. Do this as soon as possible.
