How to replace SMTP functionality in ACS Email Services after retirement of ACS Email services in 2028

We are using ACS Email Services for our printers to be able to send scans via email. As our printers are consumer devices, they do not support MFA in any way. On the other hand, our security settings require MFA for all accounts and I cannot exempt the printers from this policy.

Our way to handle this up to now is by using ACS Email Services in Azure.

If this service is retiring, I'm out of ideas, how to change our settings to still enable our printers to send scans to email addresses.

How are you preparing for this scenario?

    Hi,

Unless I'm misunderstanding your needs, what you would do is switch to third-party SMTP service. The new service would work very similar to ACS Email Services in that you would first set up your custom domain / senders / username/passwords with service provider, adjust DNS records (as necessary), etc.

If you wanted to you could use new dedicated custom domain for this so that you could leave the existing settings related to sending via ACS as is. That way you can move over one printer scanner at a time to the new service.

Once the above is set up you would configure the scanners to use the service provider's outbound server for sending scans and test to make sure messages are coming through.

Does the above sound like it fits your requirements? If something is unclear or you have questions please add a comment below.

    Thanks.
