Using New Outlook on Windows for professional communication and productivity
New Outlook does not currently provide a dedicated search within the currently opened email body/thread feature like classic in-message Find for a single long message.
Available options are:
- Use the main Search box with keywords from the message.
- Outlook search checks the subject, message body, sender name, and attachments.
- For exact wording, use quotation marks around the phrase.
- Narrow the results if needed.
- In Outlook search, filters can refine results by From, Subject, Has Attachment, Unread, Flagged, Important, and more.
- Because a long thread usually shares the same subject, combining the subject with keywords can help narrow results to that conversation.
- If the goal is specifically a keyboard shortcut similar to classic Outlook Find:
- In New Outlook, Ctrl+H is assigned to Forward by default.
- It can be changed by going to File > Settings > General > Accessibility.
- Under Keyboard shortcuts, select Outlook for Web.
- Save, close, and reopen Outlook, then test Ctrl+H again.
If the need is to search only inside one already-open email, that feature is not documented as available in New Outlook. The supported workaround is to use the main Outlook search and combine keywords with filters such as subject or sender.
