I continue to receive this error code: AADSTS500200 when trying to sign into Onenote on my ipad. I previously had a school account, created a personal account, and signed out of my school account. My computer and phone are fine but for some reason this error keeps happening on my ipad. How do I fix this?

    Try this:

    1. Open OneNote and sign out of every account listed.
    2. Close OneNote completely.
    3. Go to iPad Settings and check for any Microsoft/Office account entries or management profiles associated with the old school account. If the school installed a management profile and you no longer need it, remove it.
    4. Delete OneNote from the iPad.
    5. Restart the iPad.
    6. Reinstall OneNote from the App Store.
    7. Open OneNote and sign in specifically with the personal Microsoft account.

Also, when Microsoft asks whether this is a “Personal account” or “Work or school account,” make sure you select Personal.

AADSTS50020 usually means the iPad still has cached credentials or an old account association from the previous school account.

    Try this on the iPad:

    1. Close all Microsoft apps.
    2. Go to Settings on the iPad.
    3. Open each Microsoft 365 app that is installed, such as OneNote, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, or OneDrive.
    4. If the app has a Reset section, turn on Delete Login Credentials.
    5. Open Settings > Mail > Accounts and remove any old school or work account that is still listed.
    6. Sign out of all Microsoft apps.
    7. Delete the Microsoft apps from the device, then reinstall them one by one.
    8. Sign in again using only the personal Microsoft account.

If the error still appears, try signing in from a private browser session or a different browser first, then return to the app. This helps if an active session is still using the wrong tenant or account.

If the issue is specifically tied to OneDrive or Office account cache, the documented cause is cached identities from the previous tenant. On Windows, Microsoft resolves that by clearing cached Office identities and sign-in cache. On iPad, the closest supported steps in the available guidance are removing old accounts, resetting app login credentials, and reinstalling the apps.
